The high development of fintech and digital payment systems has revolutionized the field of financial services as it makes them more accessible, efficient, and convenient. Nevertheless, this digital transformation has also come with major cybersecurity issues such as fraud, digital breaches, malwares, and new AI-based threats. This study explores the importance of cybersecurity in the security of fintech platforms and digital payment systems. It discusses most common cyber threats, considers existing security solutions used, including encryption, multi-factor authentication, and blockchain-based solutions, and reviews regulatory frameworks that regulate financial technology security. Moreover, the research determines operational and technical issues that fintech businesses encounter to retain effective cybersecurity and to secure their smooth user experiences. These results indicate that more complex technologies and risk management plans should be incorporated to address cyber risks. The study will help increase awareness of security, inform policy-making and help develop the further evolution of digital financial services sustainably.
